ESF COMMUNITY GRANTS - GETTING RESULTS

On 31st May our 2014-15 ESF Community Grant funded project activity came to an end.

Although final figures are not yet available, for a cost of £4.5m well over 7,000 unemployed people throughout the NW region have taken part.

Early indications are that about a quarter of these people will now have an accredited qualification, whilst a survey of beneficiaries has found

·         26% are now employed,

·         21% self-employed,

·         29% have gone onto further training, and

·         49% are doing voluntary work.

Our summary evaluation has just been completed and the FINAL version can be found here.

Further, more detailed information about the results of the ESF Community Grants project funding, together with the full evaluation report, will be available in the coming weeks.

ESF Community Learning Grants

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Our last ESF community learning grant round closed in October 2014 as all of our funded projects have to end by 31/05/15.

There are major changes to how ESF funding will operate during the 2014-2020 period. Funds will be filtered down to individual regions and this will be managed by Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP's).

The Big Lottery has funded development work in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Liverpool City Region (including Halton).

To find out more about which organisation is managing the development work in your area and how the new opportunities for funding will work please visit - http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/global-content/programmes/england/building-better-opportunities

A Note of Thanks

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the busy European Social Fund event, ' Future Directions: Communities Supporting People Back Into Employment'.

It has been great to see so many organisations be able to attain ESF funding to improve employment opportunities in the European Union and so help raise standards of living. ESF aims to help people fulfil their potential by giving them better skills and better job prospects.

Regards,

ESF Grants Team, WEA
