Dorset Button Making

Inspired by a visit to Gawthorpe Hall and the historical textile equipment and tools exhibited learners undertook further researched to incorporate ideas into their work.

Learners were given demonstrations of traditional button making techniques to help them create their own dorset buttons and using several textile techniques including applique, hand embroidery, hair-pin, rag-rugging, shabori and bead making they created a final textile piece centred around their chosen piece of historical equipment.
