Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
City and Guilds 7303: Level 3

Course Length & Delivery

  • 30 GLH
  • 30 taught hours including micro teaching
  • An expectation of 30 hours additional work by the student.
  • 1 day per week for 6 weeks or 1 evening per week for 10 weeks.

Who is this course aimed at?

Are you teaching/tutoring or training, or do you wish to become a teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector (i.e. adult and community education, the voluntary sector or work based learning), but do not have a qualification?  Providing you are sufficiently qualified or experienced in the subject you intend to teach, this threshold teaching qualification is where you need to start, before progressing to the Certificate and then the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector to gain full teacher qualification.

Entry requirements

Students must be sufficiently qualified and experienced in the subject they wish to teach. Students are advised that they should possess reasonable (level 2) numeracy and literacy skills before starting the qualification. Students will be assessed for both literacy and numeracy before the course starts.

  2. Approaches to teaching and learning
  3. Planning teaching sessions
  4. Developing and practicing teaching skills
  5. Assessing learning

Assessment is via successful completion of two assignments. Assignment 2 involves a 30 minute micro teach session to the rest of the class which must be recorded.

Progression

Students may progress to the Certificate in Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)
City and Guilds 7304:  Level 4

Fee Information

Registration with City & Guilds is £55.00* plus Tuition Fee £155.00* - Total £210 (*These fees may be subject to change).

Tuition is free for those in receipt of an income related benefit subject to places being available, but the City & Guilds Registration Fee does have to be paid. 

Tuition fees are waived for WEA tutors but you will be expected to pay the City & Guilds Registration fee.

To deliver this course a minimum class size of 15 is required.

50% of places may be available for learners eligible for fee remission.
